In honor of Bernice Borchard Heffernan

Lead a life of service, show kindness to your neighbors and honor your faith through action.

Founded in honor and loving memory of the matriarch of the Heffernan family, Bernice Borchard Heffernan, who led a life of service in her Catholic faith through charity, hardwork, and selflessness. She was dedicated to continuing education, the agriculture community, caring for the disabled, and those in need.

We strive to continue to honor Bernice’s work and values by offering youth opportunities to serve in today’s world and to carry her values on in the generations to come.

Our Goals

  • EDUCATION

We hope to create a learning center to provide an environment for faith based education and enrichment as well as helping students to plan and execute their own service opportunities with the tools to grow in faith, education, agriculture and community.

  • SERVICE

We are creating resources to encourage service to one’s community especially for their local neighbors in need, the elderly, the disabled and children. We will offer approachable guides and resources for groups to plan and execute this in their own communities with tools to create a similar experience no matter where they live - while encouraging more to get back to their roots in agriculture or learn more about the ag world.

  • COMMUNITY

We hope to foster and build a community locally and world-wide through educational materials that encourage deeper learning, education in agriculture and community building projects that are approachable and can be accomplished by the youth in the Borchard Society community.

“Be kind, serve your neighbor, and better yourself.”
